INDIA Maoists attack polling officials in Orissa. Left-wing Maoist rebels targetted poll officials in two separate attacks yesterday in the Kandhamal district of the central state of Orissa. One poll officer was killed and several others were injured in the attacks. In the first incident, the rebels blew up a van loaded with election officials by setting off a landmine at Barala village and then opened fired at the injured polling officials, killing one of them on the spot and injuring three others.
